Interim Principal Elizabeth Meador

We find ourselves in a tumultuous time for our country.  I often think about how fortunate I am to be able to ride these rough waves in the comfort of this beautiful valley.  So many of our fellow citizens are struggling, in so many ways, and at times I feel overwhelmed and disillusioned.

I am heartened by such things as the food bank that the Aspen Family Connections has been running from the middle school lobby all summer.  I am heartened by the hundreds of thousands of people that have marched against social injustice in our nation’s streets.  I am heartened by the recent decisions of the Supreme Court, acknowledging the humanity that we all belong to.

The 2020-2021 school year will be a challenge, of that I am sure.  We have Covid-19 to deal with, and I imagine there will be some changes that feel different, however, you can trust that the Aspen School District is made up of quality, professional educators that want the very best for your children!  We are a team, and we all work together for the greater good of our community.

When the world is spinning out of control all around me, the quote that comes to mind is attributed to Margaret Mead.  She said, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed it is the only thing that ever has.”

Our goal at the Aspen Middle School is to ensure that our students see themselves as thoughtful, committed citizens.  We look forward to working with you in the coming year as we lurch into the future together!
