    The Aspen High School College Counseling Office is dedicated to introducing and educating students and families about options, helping each student create a personalized plan, and guiding them towards realizing their dreams for life after high school.

    A student and parent post-secondary planning curriculum is offered for each grade level including:

    ·         Freshman Seminar Class for all Freshman

    ·         College & Career Discovery Class for all Juniors

    ·         College Application Case Study Program

    ·         Senior Bootcamp

    ·         Weekly Senior College Application Roundtables

    ·         Local Scholarship Roundtables

    ·         Evening Parent & Student Presentations for all grade levels (including Financial Aid Nights)

    ·         AHS Graduate Panel


    Students are offered six individual meetings with a college counselor over the course of their four years at AHS.  The goal is to find the right college/post-secondary match for each student and to assist the student in the process of application. 


    Local College Scholarship program is also administered which connects Aspen High School seniors to more than $470,000 in community support from 50+ local businesses, organizations, and philanthropists.


    Colorado Western Slope College Fair

    Each fall, the Aspen School District hosts the Colorado Western Slope College Fair during which admissions officers from 250 colleges and universities are available to connect with students. Workshops are offered during the College Fair covering topics such as business majors, the arts, student-athletes, highly selective schools, financial aid, and our outstanding Colorado and regional colleges.  Click HERE for a listing of colleges attending the fair in 2018 and HERE for a listing of 2018 workshops. 


    GlenX Career Fair

    Each spring, the community offers a regional GlenX Career Expo that brings high students together with local businesses and business leaders.  Students learn about career choices and the next steps to take in order to achieve.



    Who We Are in the College Counseling Office ...   

    Charlie Laubil

    Charlie Laube is a native of Akron, OH. He attended high school in Bath, OH, then headed off to The College of Wooster, where he studied History and was a member of the varsity lacrosse team. After graduating from college, and a two-year stint with the National Park Service, Charlie earned his Masters Degree from the University of Akron. The educational foundation he developed allowed him to spend the next 12 years working in college admissions with The College of Wooster in Wooster, OH, as well as Paul Smith's College, outside of Lake Placid, NY. Most recently, Charlie served in the College Counseling office at Mullen High School in Denver, CO.

    Susanne Morrison

    Susanne Morrison joined the College Counseling team in the fall of 2017.  Susanne has lived in Aspen since 1989, working in the nonprofit sector - primarily at the Aspen Community Foundation and the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies. Susanne graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1989 with a BA in Political Science. She manages the college counseling office and is responsible for office communication, scheduling, and scholarships. Susanne handles all AHS college applications and subsequent reporting.
