B.A.-Human Biology M.A.-Education: Curriculum/Instruction

Marc Whitley

I grew up in Aspen and graduated from Aspen High School in 1986. After receiving my bachelor’s degree in Human Biology with an emphasis in Conservation Biology from Stanford University in 1991, I returned to teach at Aspen High in 1998. Along the way, I earned a master’s degree in Education/Curriculum and Instruction from Boise State University in 2001 and studied Spanish and Archaeoastronomy at the University of Guanajuato during a yearlong sabbatical in Mexico in 2008-9. I began my teaching career by working for a variety of outdoor education organizations in the West, including the Colorado Outward Bound School and Aspen Center for Environmental Studies. I enjoy spending time in the mountains with my family, sharing my love of the outdoors on backpacking, climbing, biking and rafting trips.
