Degrees and Certifications:
I have been a teacher since 1996, currently I am the Support Specialist for Aspen Middle School. I began teaching at Aspen Middle School in 2001 serving as a 6th grade teacher and later the Support Specialist. I have a master's degree from Seattle Pacific University in Education Administration and a principal's license. My teaching certifications include National Board Certification as a Middle Childhood Generalist, as well as Colorado endorsement in secondary science and elementary education.
In my role as Support Specialist I coordinate the support services for students in grades 5-8 and assist our teachers with the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) formerly known as Response to Intervention (RTI). This means, if a student is struggling in any area (behavior, attention, social, emotional, reading, writing, math, etc.), I assist in developing a plan to support that student. My role enables me to work closely with the Aspen Middle School staff and parents to identify what students need to be successful in core classes as well as in creating or teaching supplemental classes to meet and challenge our developing learners. My philosophy is rooted in the firm belief that each child in our community is unique, can learn, and contributes positively to our school.
One of the classes that I teach is called Project Challenge: Check out the AMS Project Challenge Website
