Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Mary Loomis

Originally from New England, Mary graduated from the University of Vermont in 2017 with a degree in Environmental Studies. During college she worked in outdoor education as a trip leader for her university's Outing Club, as well as an instructor and logistics coordinator for the nearby Colorado Outward Bound School. Mary spent the 2019-20 school year earning her Colorado teacher's license in English Language Arts (7-12) at the Eagle Rock School & Professional Development Center over in Estes Park. While there, she fell in love with classroom teaching, and connecting students to our varied and shared human experiences through the examination and writing of stories. While at Eagle Rock, she was the not-so-humble 3x recipient of the Intramural Staff Athlete of the Week Award. In her spare time, Mary enjoys getting outside, coffee, and spending time with her dog, Juniper.

“You think your pain and your heartbreak are unprecedented in the history of the world, but then you read. It was books that taught me that the things that tormented me most were the very things that connected me with all the people who were alive, who had ever been alive.” - James Baldwin
