Skiing originally brought me to Aspen and I have lived here, on and off, ever since; happily settling back here permanently in 2012. I have lived in Australia and worked at Balcombe Grammar School, which is located in the small seaside village of Mount Martha.  I love the outdoors and have traded surfing and walks on the beach for ski days and hiking in the mountains. As well as working at AMS, I am fortunate to teach skiing part-time. I feel so grateful for the opportunities I have experienced being part of our unique Aspen community. We have two adventurous mountain girl daughters, Amy and Lucy, who currently reside in Australia but attended ASD. A recent achievement I am proud of was backpacking the 4 pass loop. This reminded me yet again as to why we live here and how great our Outdoor Education program is here at AMS, as it creates similar challenges and achievements for our students. Here in the counseling department at AMS we are trying to help create a calm, centered and connected community and I am looking forward to continuing to help in this way as I love working with the great students, parents and staff who are part of the school!

Thank you for your involvement in our AMS community!

Hello and welcome families and students!

I will be joining the Aspen Middle School team this year as a counselor and athletic director. I am excited and feel fortunate to meet and work with the students and families, and to be a part of the ASD community! I am from a small town in Southern Vermont, and when I am not at school, I enjoy snowboarding, playing tennis, soccer, and going for walks. In addition to working with students, playing sports is another one of my passions. I had the privilege to play soccer on the Olympic Development Team for the state of Vermont, and I played tennis at Springfield College during my four undergraduate years. I lived in central Massachusetts and taught there as a 6th-grade Special Educator; however, that “Colorado Calling”, as I call it, and following my dream of becoming a school counselor, is what brought me to this area, and I am so happy to be here!

In our counseling department, we seek to foster an environment for our students that is safe, welcoming, and a place where they can be their true selves. We recognize and appreciate students’ strengths, values, interests, and abilities, and that every student is unique, which is such an incredible thing! Students are at the center of their learning and experiences, and it is essential to meet students where they are. Please know that we are here, as equal partners, and value consistent communication and collaboration. We look forward to working with the families, students, and staff, and for the wonderful year ahead!
