Since a boy Brent has been in the dirt, on the water, or up in a tree exploring the world around him. His academic career was spent studying the dynamic interactions of life and the surrounding environment. Brent has been guiding students through the various sciences of our planet since 2005 and has taught in Washington, Colorado, Cambodia, and Portugal. Brent values using the surrounding environment to create an authentic experience which allows students to connect science to their daily lives.
Brent started Aspen Mountain Guide School which allows students to train and pursue outdoor industry certifications needed to work in Aspen's recreational industry. This class provides a quality outdoor education/certification program emphasizing postsecondary & workforce readiness (PWR) competencies, technical skills, and certifications needed for a seamless transition to further education or employment in outdoor-related industries. Skills focus on wilderness medicine, rock climbing, backcountry leadership and ethics, as well as ski instructor training.
When not in the classroom you can find him climbing, kayaking, fly fishing, and enjoying time with his family. Brent can hold a conversation in Spanish and fake his way through Portuguese. His Masters of Education thesis was focused on the use of experiential education in Science to promote academic and social success with ELL students.
