Welcome to Reading!
Summer Library Reading ProgramSign your child up at the Pitkin County, Basalt, Carbondale or Glenwood Library for the summer reading programs that they are offering. June 5th is the "official" sign-up day, however, you can sign up any time afterwards as well!
As we head into our final weeks of school the reading department would like to inform parents that our last day working with reading students will be May 29, 2015. On this day, we will celebrate with our last Poetry Café of the year. First and second grade students have their poems in their bubblelopes to practice at home. Third and Fourth graders are writing their own interest-based poems and adding illustrations on their ChromeBooks. Look for photos after our big day! We are very pleased with the progress all our students have made this year!April 2015From May 7-14, the reading department will be administering the End-of-Year DIBELS assessment to the entire K-4 student body. Our reading intervention classes will be cancelled for these 5 days. We will resume working with our groups on Monday, May 18.
January 2015After collaborating with classroom teachers and completing mid-year assessments, we are regrouping. Some students have exited reading intervention while others are coming in. We look forward to working with your students for the second semester.
December 2014Our second Poetry Café was a huge success! In December, students read winter poems and books to an audience of their peers. She is a wonderful addition to our department!October 2014The students participated in our first Poetry Café at the end of October.
