  • ASD Reopening Survey

Aspen School District is part of a larger community including the City of Aspen and Pitkin County, as well as Colorado. We expect to get more guidance and suggestions in the weeks and months ahead regarding the opening of schools. We will build a representative team to create a plan that permits safe opening of schools for students and staff and supports education of all our children. We also know we have to be compliant with the laws governing public health and safety. Through this process we will be clear and transparent. At this time, we are not exactly sure what school reopening will look like. We are planning for many contingencies.

This form is designed for you to provide suggestions or comments you may have regarding the reopening of school this August. Please click here to fill out the survey.

  • District Adopts Newly Updated 504 Handbook

As many of you may know, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 provides a broad spectrum of protections against discrimination on the basis of disability. For example, all qualified elementary and secondary students who meet the definition of an individual with a disability under Section 504 are entitled to receive regular or special education and related aids and services that are designed to meet their individual educational needs as adequately as the needs of students without disabilities are met.

If you have any questions regarding the updated handbook or Section 504 generally, please do not hesitate to contact your building 504 coordinator or the district office.
